Too many people are complacent and misinformed about the need for proper estate and long-term care planning.  Inaction or inadequate planning can result in devastation for seniors and their families.

  • Coordinate beneficiary designations with the desires expressed in the will.
  • Be careful when naming the person to make decisions for you.  Make sure it is someone who will follow  your wishes.
  • Understand the rules for Medicaid  benefits and how to use them for long-term care.
  • Make sure you have a guardianship or trust set up for minor children.
  • Do not be secretive with family about your  assets and discuss possible long-term care issues.
  • Do not rely on outdated or inadequate documents – especially durable powers of attorney and living wills (advance directives).

At Martha C. Brown & Associates, we discuss the issues families could not possibly anticipate on their own.  We can spot issues before they become problems.  To discuss you estate planning needs, please contact our office at 314-962-0186.
